Isabella, a third-year student in the two-year technical program of the Department of English, enrolled in both the “Micro” and “Deep Bowl” modules of the USR Little Screw Project during the 114-1 semester. Her initial motivation stemmed from a strong awareness of the growing importance of technology. She originally planned to begin with the Micro module and adjust her level of involvement accordingly. However, after gaining a deeper understanding of the course design, she realized that the program closely aligned with her long-term goal of integrating business and technology, and therefore decided to take on both modules simultaneously. This decision led her to undergo more intensive and systematic training within a single semester, allowing her to accumulate valuable cross-disciplinary practical experience.
After fully engaging in the program, Isabella discovered that the course content was far more diverse than she had anticipated. In addition to hospital volunteer services, she chose to serve as an industry volunteer, using video production to help promote local tourism in the Oyster Fishing Harbor area. The Deep Bowl module emphasizes not only hands-on practice but also solid professional training and the establishment of core values in its early stages. Under the guidance of instructors and professional teams, students learn scriptwriting for both short- and long-form videos, filming techniques, and editing skills, while also conducting multiple field visits to plan and develop content on site. For Isabella, while technical skills were essential, the most meaningful takeaway was learning how to understand local needs and apply professional expertise to genuinely respond to the community.
Humanistic Education Foundation after being selected as a child and youth representative, where she served as head of the education group and began engaging with public issues and press conference operations. She later hosted Taichung Metro press conferences and corporate events, accumulating extensive stage experience and strong communication skills. These experiences were clearly demonstrated during the final presentation of the Little Screw USR Project, where she served as the event host, presenting herself with composure and professionalism while effectively managing the program flow, earning unanimous recognition from faculty members and the project team. Although these experiences may appear unrelated to formal coursework, they have become vital assets that enable her to demonstrate a high level of engagement and adaptability in the USR program.
Looking ahead, Isabella is not eager to define a single career path for herself. Instead, she aspires to continue “deepening and broadening” her abilities. She believes that through continuous exploration and practice, she can gradually shape her own professional profile and, through concrete action, live out her personal understanding of what it means to be a Wenzaorian.
