On April 11, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00, the College held a student feedback session in Room Q606, focusing on the role of generative AI tools in learning. Students were invited to share their experiences using platforms such as ChatGPT and Gemini, discussing both their learning value and practical application in academic settings.
Most students affirmed that AI significantly supported their learning—particularly in English writing—by helping to correct grammar, refine sentence structure, and generate ideas. ChatGPT emerged as the most popular tool due to its intuitive interface and rapid response, while Gemini was recognized for its structured, comparative output, although it required more time to become familiar with.
Students noted that using AI made their learning more efficient and helped them develop the ability to write better prompts. Many shared that they typically use AI to generate a draft and then revise it to better reflect their tone and personal style. One student remarked, “Using AI not only improved my writing but also taught me how to get the output I actually need.”
Some students, however, expressed concern that over-reliance on AI might weaken their independent thinking. They emphasized the importance of combining AI use with reading, discussion, and instructor feedback to achieve meaningful progress. The instructor echoed this sentiment, highlighting that while AI is powerful, it is essential that students maintain critical thinking and problem-solving skills when AI is not available. Students were encouraged to “be the master of AI,” treating it as a supportive tool rather than a crutch.
The session concluded with a collective discussion on how to design courses that incorporate AI while ensuring students continue to engage deeply in their learning. The event revealed not only high student engagement with AI tools but also opened up new, constructive directions for integrating AI into future educational practices.
