To enhance teachers' understanding of the application of EMI and AI in education, the College conducted an EMI+AI experiential learning in Taipei. Led by the Dean, a total of 10 faculty members participated, focusing on the ViewSonic visit and discussions related to AI. The experiential learning explored how AI is deeply integrated into EMI teaching and how it addresses industrial transformation challenges.
ViewSonic Visit: The Future of Technology in Education
The visit was hosted by ViewSonic Academy's Dr. Lien Yujen, who provided an in-depth tour and presentation covering the company’s introduction, product showcase, office tour, and the integration of AI with educational technology. This visit offered valuable insights and practical examples of AI applications in education.
During the tour, Dr. Lian demonstrated how AI can enhance educational quality and introduced the latest smart classroom solutions, including AI-driven interactive whiteboards, digital teaching material development platforms, and personalized learning analytics tools. These technologies help educators better understand students' learning progress, provide real-time feedback, and optimize teaching strategies.
Additionally, Dr. Lian showcased various cutting-edge technological products, allowing participants to gain insight into how AI is deeply embedded in corporate culture and drives educational and industrial transformation. For example, smart display technology enhances classroom interaction efficiency, while AI analytics platforms monitor learning data in real time, assisting teachers in refining their instructional approaches. He also emphasized the importance of the 3i model (HI->AI->HI), explaining how human intelligence (HI) initiates AI learning and development, AI then processes data and supports decision-making, and finally, human intelligence supervises and applies AI outputs to ensure effectiveness in teaching and learning.
Dr. Lian specifically highlighted the importance of questioning in AI applications and pointed out that humanities students possess unique advantages in AI applications. Due to their higher sensitivity to cross-cultural and multilingual contexts, they can flexibly leverage AI in language processing, content creation, and international marketing. They can enhance AI-generated content accuracy through linguistic and cultural expertise while applying critical thinking and logical analysis to refine AI-generated information. For example, AI-driven translation and semantic analysis technologies enable language learners to improve their communication efficiency, while AI-powered tools enhance content creation, brand storytelling, and marketing strategy precision.
This visit provided educators with a profound understanding of AI's potential in education and encouraged them to consider integrating these technologies into EMI teaching to cultivate students' digital literacy and problem-solving skills, ensuring their competitiveness in the rapidly evolving job market.
Presidential Office and National Archives Tour: Educational and Industrial Adaptation Amid AI Disruption
Beyond the ViewSonic visit, the study tour included a visit to the Presidential Office and a cultural route curated by the National Archives. The entire tour was conducted in English, focusing on how EMI education can respond to AI-driven industrial transformations and reinforcing teachers' understanding of national development and global trends.
As AI continues to evolve, many industries are undergoing transformation, and the education and tourism sectors are no exception. At the Presidential Office, teachers participated in an English-guided tour to gain insights into Taiwan's political system and historical background. This experience allowed them to reflect on how EMI education can integrate AI technology to enhance students' global perspectives and cross-cultural communication skills, preparing them for the demands of an increasingly globalized job market.
Following this, the faculty members explored a series of cultural and historical sites arranged by the National Archives, observing how various institutions leverage AI to enhance historical document management and digital applications. During the visit, educators learned how these institutions create a win-win model with AI, such as using AI-powered annotation and content analysis tools to systematically organize and classify archives, making them accessible as digital learning resources for education. Additionally, institutions demonstrated how they differentiate themselves from AI by focusing on unique values that AI cannot replace, such as cultural storytelling, human-led guided tours, and immersive learning experiences.
These observations and discussions provided new insights, enabling educators to integrate EMI teaching with technological innovations more effectively.
Study Tour Summary and Future Prospects
Through the ViewSonic visit and AI-related discussions, the study tour allowed educators to gain a deeper understanding of AI applications in education and explore future trends in the convergence of humanities and technology. Additionally, the visits to the Presidential Office and National Archives enabled participants to consider EMI education from historical and cultural perspectives and examine how AI can enhance teaching effectiveness.
Moving forward, the College will continue to promote AI integration in EMI courses and encourage faculty members to incorporate their learning experiences into teaching, enhancing students' technological literacy and global competitiveness. This experiential learning not only provided a forward-looking perspective but also laid a solid foundation for future innovations in EMI education.
