英文系大一新生與院長午餐座談 Freshman Lunch Meeting with the Dean of the College

Due to the typhoon in early October in Z506, the originally scheduled "Freshman Lunch Meeting with the Dean " was postponed to October 16th and 17th. Both events took place during lunchtime, allowing the dean and freshmen to enjoy a relaxed meal together in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere.

During the conversation, several freshmen expressed concerns about their academic workload, prompting the College to consider providing additional academic support in the future. Some students raised practical issues such as air conditioning card recharging and on-campus parking. The College promised to offer solutions or seek relevant answers.

When the discussion turned to future career paths, the freshmen demonstrated great imagination and clear goal-setting. Whether it be the aviation industry, the exhibition sector, or roles such as diplomats or international police officers, all of these professions are closely tied to English proficiency. This highlights the new generation's strong sense of self-planning and their understanding of future job market demands. At the same time, it reflects the English Department's inclusive approach to nurturing diverse talents with a forward-looking vision.

Seniors Darren and Michael also participated in the meeting, sharing their experiences in both on- and off-campus activities. They introduced the freshmen to opportunities like international forums, competitions, and even preparations for the diplomat examination. The freshmen listened attentively, gaining valuable advice from their seniors' insights.

This lunch meeting not only strengthened the connection between the dean and the freshmen but also showcased the freshmen’s confidence. With the support and guidance of Wenzao, these students are sure to forge ahead on their individual paths, courageously pursuing their dreams.

受到十月初颱風的影響，原定於Z506舉行的「英文系大一生與院長有約」活動順延至十月十六日和十七日。兩場活動皆於午餐時間舉辦，院長與新生們輕鬆共進午餐，席間氣氛融洽。

座談過程中，幾位新生表達了對課業的擔憂，學院因此於會後思考額外課業輔導的規劃。此外，有新生提出了如冷氣卡儲值和校內停車等實際生活問題，學院也承諾將提供解答或尋求相關解決方案。

當話題轉向未來發展時，新生們展現了豐富的想像力與目標設定。無論是航空業、會展產業，還是外交官、國際警察等，均與英文能力密不可分，這顯示出新世代學生不僅擁有清晰的自我規劃能力，還充分認知未來職場需求。同時，也體現了英文系在多元人才培育上的特色，具備包容性與前瞻視野。

兩位學長Darren和Michael也參與了此次座談，分享了他們在校內外活動中的經驗，並為新生介紹如何參與國際論壇、比賽，甚至準備外交官考試等。新生們全神貫注，從學長們的寶貴經驗中獲得了實用建議。
