【社群活動】引領變革:永續發展目標在英文教學中的應用 Empower Changes: SDGs in English

國際學院於今(4/11)日邀請張雅婷老師以「成為那個改變:永續發展目標英文」為主題,於至善樓Z1309和老師們分享她如何在英文課堂中融入聯合國永續發展目標,讓學生除了能夠增進英文能力之外,對於世界的永續發展也能夠更加關注,並同時可以提升學生的批判性思考能力!
張老師憑藉著多年的英語教學經驗,以及中心的支持,開設了時下相當熱門的永續發展目標主題課程。其中以紀錄片來作為課程教材,跳脫了以生硬的課本為主的教學方式,成功吸引學生的目光,也成功激發學生的學習動機,讓學生可以在課外的時間願意投入更多時間做準備。張老師亦指出課程內容相當彈性,有新的素材即可立即替換既有教材。
另外,張老師也利用了Google Classroom平台來進行課前的預習以及課後的複習。藉由科技工具的使用,拉近了學生與老師的距離,使得師生得以更有效率的方式來進行教學和學習。藉由這次的分享,在座老師都覺得受益良多,可做為未來規劃課程時的參考。
The College invited Karena Chang on April 11th to share her insights with the title “Be the Change: English for SDGs” at Z1309, Zhishan Hall. During the session, she elaborated on how she integrates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into her English classes, enabling students not only to enhance their English proficiency but also to become more aware of global sustainable development issues. Additionally, she emphasized how this approach fosters students' critical thinking skills.
Drawing upon her years of English teaching experience and the support of the Center, Karena has launched a popular course centered around the Sustainable Development Goals. Utilizing documentaries as teaching materials, she has moved away from traditional textbook-centric methods, capturing students' attention and motivating them to engage more actively in their learning. Moreover, she highlighted the flexibility of the course content, allowing for immediate incorporation of new materials.
Furthermore, Karena leverages the Google Classroom platform for pre-class preparation and post-class review, effectively bridging the gap between students and teachers and facilitating more efficient teaching and learning processes. The sharing session was highly beneficial for attending teachers, providing valuable insights for future course planning.
