AI: The Gateway to Endless Opportunities

On April 9th, Ms. Lin Yijun, the Music Director of the AI Orchestra of National Tsing Hua University, was invited by the ICEFA College of Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages to share insights on AI applications in music at Q002. During the lecture, Ms. Lin not only introduced the AI Orchestra and the current developments of AI in the field of music but also delved into various professional aspects of AI-generated music.

The AI Orchestra of National Tsing Hua University was established in 2019 and is renowned for its "human-machine concerto." Ms. Lin demonstrated this concerto live during the presentation. As the melody played, the stage backdrop displayed matrices of colored squares that moved in sync with the music. Utilizing AI automatic scoring technology, each color represented a different instrument, allowing the software to track and position the current musical content in real-time on the screen, providing a synchronized visual representation of the music to the audience.

Ms. Lin mentioned that AI music primarily utilizes Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS), which are important research areas in educational technology. With the help of AI technology, ITS plays a crucial role in helping learners acquire knowledge and skills in the absence of a tutor's guidance. Ms. Lin believes that in the future, utilizing AI for teaching can create more possibilities, allowing interaction between real individuals and virtual characters or AI, providing learners with visual cues and freshness, and making AI a creative assistant in teaching.

國立清華大學AI樂團的音樂總監林怡君女士於社群召集人陳虹育老師的邀請下，在4月9日假求真樓(Q002)分享關於人工智慧在音樂領域的應用。講座中，林總監除了介紹清華大學AI樂團和目前音樂領域中AI的發展情況外，還深入探討了人工智慧生成音樂的專業知識。

清華大學AI樂團成立於2019年，以其“人機協奏”而聞名。林總監在現場展示了人機協奏的演奏過程。隨著旋律的響起，舞臺背景的螢幕上出現了不同顏色的矩陣方塊，隨著音樂不斷移動。利用人工智慧自動跟譜技術，每種顏色代表一種樂器，軟體可以自動追蹤和定位當前的音樂內容，將音樂以視覺方式呈現給觀眾。

林總監提到，AI音樂主要利用智慧輔導系統（ITS）進行，這是教育技術中的重要研究領域。借助人工智慧技術，ITS在沒有導師指導的情況下，説明學習者獲取知識和技能方面起著重要作用。林總監相信未來利用AI進行教學可以創造更多可能性，使真人與虛擬人物或AI進行互動，為學習者提供視覺提示和新鮮感，使AI成為教學中富有創意的助手。
