Assistant Professor Sabina Huang (黃翠玲) of the Department of Translation and Interpreting presents a paper (titled “Chinese Culture and Society in the Spanish World: A study on the Spanish version of The Plum in the Golden Vase (Chin ping mei)”) at the following conference in Tokyo, Japan: The 2nd East Asian Translation Studies Conference.
The paper aims to examine the Spanish version of El erudito de las carcajadas (Jin ping mei) by viewing translation as a cross-cultural activity and to understand the manipulations done by the translator through the lens of Lawrence Venuti's domesticating translation and foreignizing translation.
