Associate Professor and Director Vivian Chiu-Hui Wu (吳秋慧) of the Center for English Language Teaching presents a paper (titled “Intercultural Competence in International Service-Learning Context: Narratives of Volunteers”) at the following conference in Kobe, Japan: The Asian Conference on Language Learning 2016.
The study explores four Taiwanese university volunteers’ international service-learning experiences. They joined an 11-day volunteer camp on an island named Olango in Philippines in January 2015. The researcher documented the participants’ 6-month impacts on their personal, social and professional contexts. Such international experiences allowed them to reinforce their linguistic and cultural competences through the intercultural dialogues and classroom teaching. (2016.04.27–2016.05.01)
