AI Featured Credit Program Information Session

The AI Featured Credit Program Information Session, organized by the Office of Academic Affairs, was held online on February 10. The session aimed to introduce the university’s overall direction for integrating artificial intelligence into teaching and to encourage language-related departments to develop featured credit programs, interdisciplinary credit programs, or micro-credit programs aligned with their disciplinary strengths.

During the session, it was emphasized that the core objective of this initiative is not to replace existing teaching practices with AI, but to use AI as a supportive tool to enhance the university’s established strengths in language education. Through this “AI-enhanced language education” approach, departments are encouraged to strengthen students’ learning outcomes and future employability while maintaining their professional foundations.

The Office of Academic Affairs also highlighted that departments are encouraged to review and consolidate existing courses when designing AI-related programs, rather than creating entirely new courses. This flexible approach allows departments to further develop distinctive program features based on available resources and curricular structures.

In terms of program design, three types of credit programs were introduced: standard credit programs, interdisciplinary credit programs, and micro-credit programs. The session also explained the corresponding credit requirements and application procedures. All proposed programs are required to undergo the established three-level review process at the department, college, and university levels. For interdisciplinary or cross-college programs, approval from the relevant curriculum committees is also required.

Through this information session, the university aims to support departments in developing AI-featured teaching initiatives, enhancing overall teaching innovation, and strengthening institutional competitiveness. Departments are encouraged to continue exchanging ideas and exploring diverse approaches to integrating AI with their professional fields, making effective use of existing curricular resources to jointly promote the development of AI-enhanced education with distinctive institutional characteristics.
