I created a traditional Taiwanese puppet theater image. I have always had a fondness for the culture of puppet theater, which is not only a form of entertainment but also an important medium for preserving history and culture, showcasing the creativity and profound depth of performing arts of the Taiwanese people. Simultaneously, puppet theater boasts a rich plot that offers both visual and auditory enjoyment. By manually manipulating these puppets, the characters appear more lifelike. |

I chose shadow puppetry, a traditional Chinese art that uses light and flat puppets to tell stories. The puppets are usually made of leather and moved behind a white screen. I used an AI image tool to create modern-style shadow puppets, mixing old shapes with new ideas like city backgrounds and fantasy clothes. It was hard to get the right style, so I changed the prompts many times. This project helped me learn how to mix tradition with technology. I think AI can help more people enjoy and understand old culture in new ways. |

In northern China, there exists a traditional craft called paper-cutting, where people use just a pair of scissors and a red sheet to create intricate patterns. In the modern era, I envision leveraging AI to bring these paper-cut designs to life. By installing motion-sensing cameras above, when people wave their hands in the air, the system could detect their movements. This would enable digital paper-cut animations projected on screens to dynamically transform their shapes and even sway in response to the gestures, creating an interactive fusion of ancient artistry and cutting-edge technology. |
