Green Practices, Circular Regeneration, Sustainable Development: Report of College Project Seminar

The international college organized a project seminar on March 22, aiming to explore avenues and possibilities for sustainable management. A total of 16 teachers and 4 staff from four departments of the International College as well as one from the Spanish Department and one, the Digital Department, participated in this event.

The first stop of the seminar was Yingsong Company in Chiayi. The company's general manager’s special assistant, Charlie Wang, vividly introduced the company's operational model, which includes the production of wooden pallets and the reutilization of waste wood materials. By introducing advanced technology from Germany, they successfully transformed waste wood into wood gas to drive power generation equipment, achieving the goal of circular regeneration. This innovative technique not only brought considerable profits to the company but also had a positive impact on the environment, making it one of the best examples of a circular economy.

Subsequently, participants visited the Singong Incense-Art Culture Park, where they witnessed the traditional incense-making process firsthand. President Chen Wenzhong's passionate explanation about preserving traditional incense art left a deep impression. Concerned about the gradual disappearance of traditional incense art, he established the incense art center, incorporating innovative ideas to ensure the preservation of this cultural heritage and contribute more to society.

Finally, the group visited the FLOMO Tourist Factory in Hunei, where they were warmly welcomed by founder Mr. Shen Kunzhao and his colleagues. With on-site explanations by Bilma, an alumni of the English Department, they learned about the company's innovative products like modern pencil cases and experienced the production process of erasers, deepening their understanding of the harmful effects of toxic erasers on human health and the importance of environmentally friendly products.

This project seminar provided participants with abundant knowledge and valuable experiences, while also showcasing the importance of a circular economy. Whether it's wood processing, traditional incense production, or the operation of tourist factories, all demonstrate the perfect combination of economic benefits and environmental protection. This event not only highlighted the potential for symbiosis between the economy and the environment but also inspired deeper reflections on sustainable development.
